The Center for Global Initiatives hosts and co-sponsors global events and conferences across campus and in our community. Of note are our recurring events that take place throughout the year, Global Project Showcase and International Coffee Hour.

Dept. of State Funding Opportunities: Info Session
Thursday, December 7, 2017 @ 12:00 pm–1:30 pm EST
Join CGI, UNC’s Diplomat-in-Residence and the Office of Distinguished Scholarships for an information session on government-funded opportunities, several of which are designed for students interested in international affairs and the foreign service.
Some awards that will be covered during this session include the following:
- Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship: Provides incoming graduate students with financial support, mentoring and professional development to prepare them academically and professionally for a career with the U.S. Department of State. Women, members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, and students with financial need are encouraged to apply.
- Rangel International Affairs Summer Enrichment Program: A six-week, domestic summer program for undergraduates designed to promote greater diversity and excellence in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State.
- Fulbright U.S. Student Program: This program allows graduating seniors, master’s students, doctoral candidates, and recent graduates to self-design a research/study project, or serve as an English Teaching Assistant in one of more than 140 countries.
