Global Take Off: Puerto Rico
Global Take Off: Puerto Rico is a fully funded, interactive, five-day, faculty-led experience carried out in collaboration with the Institute for the Study of the Americas.
The 2017 program theme was environment, and the trip occurred over spring break due to a delay caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The experience included the following:
- Seminars and collaborative learning experiences with University of Puerto Rico faculty, staff and students as well as community organizers
- Visits to local community and university entities recovering from hurricane damage and delivery of goods collecting on UNC's campus
- Outdoor interactive learning experiences exploring Puerto Rico's natural and agricultural resources (i.e., beekeeping, coconut harvesting, kayaking and cave exploring)
- Career and personal development and networking opportunities with international partners and alumni
