Sailors, Merchants, and Slaves in a Transimperial Atlantic World: Trade and Social Networks in the Gulf of Mexico, 1763-1821
Daniel Velasquez will travel to Seville, Madrid, and London to conduct archival research on the history of in the Gulf of Mexico region during the late colonial and early national periods. He will focus on social and commercial networks that formed in the wake of wars and revolutions and across imperial boundaries. This exploratory trip will help him determine the feasibility of his dissertation.
