Art, Innovation, and Patronage in Colonial-Era Congo
Carlee Forbes will travel to Kinshasa and Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Brussels, Belgium. Her research will focus on colonial-era art patronage as a way to better understand the ways that Congolese artists navigated colonialism in the early 20th century. She will visit archives and museum collections, speak with experts, and interview contemporary artists.
