Telling Our Stories of Home: Celebrating African and African Diaspora Women Artists
Telling Our Stories of Home: A Celebration of African and African Diaspora Women Artists, will be convened by Professor Kathy Perkins (Dramatic Art) and Tanya Shields (Women's and Gender Studies), and will create opportunities for women from Africa and the African Diaspora to exchange stories about "home," particularly the stories of home disruption and displacement through wars, violence against women, and environmental catastrophes. Artists from the U.S., U.K, Brazil, India, Haiti, Uganda, and Rwanda will explore methods of sharing stories through drama, poetry, film, dance, music, and visual art.
