"From Whitehall to Westminster: Late Colonial Lobbies and the Politics of British Decolonization, 1968-2012"
My project engages the history of a First Nations organization, the Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs, which lobbied the British Government in 1982 to recognize the legality of its historic treaties with North America's indigenous peoples. I will consult this group's official records and conduct interviews with activists who traveled to London as part of my larger effort to remap our historiographical understandings of the end of the British Empire.
