Comparative Dimension to History 140: The World since 1945
History 140: The World since 1945 is a large lecture course offered every year in the Department of History at UNC Chapel Hill. Prof. Eren Tasar is applying for a grant to restructure this course on a comparative basis, bring its various case studies (including the Islamic Revolution in Iran, the Soviet Invasion of Afghanistan, the North Korean famine of the 1990s, the Israel-Palestine conflict, and China's transformation into a market economy) more closely into conversation with one another through an examination of structural commonalities in these societies and convergences in their contemporary development.
