Radio and the Italian Musical Avant-Garde: Luciano Berio, Bruno Maderna, and Luigi Nono at the Studio di Fonologia, 1955-1965
Joanna Helms will travel to archives in Milan, Venice, and Bologna, Italy. She will survey materials related to the work of composers Luciano Berio, Bruno Maderna, and Luigi Nono in the first decade of operations at the Studio di Fonologia Musicale in Milan, in preparation for a dissertation proposal to be defended in Spring 2016.
