Tango in North Carolina: A 20-Year Perspective
As a special event in the "Music on the Porch" series that the Center for the Study of the American South produces each semester, the Center for the Study of the American South is inviting Argentinian tango musician Julian Hasse to present a history and performance of tango in the context of this region on November 11th. This event will be free an open to the public, and was selected in consultation with music department faculty member Juan Almo, who is including it on his syllabus for the "Introduction to Latin American Music" course (large-enrollment) he is currently teaching (MUSC 147). The performance will be accompanied by members of Charanga Carolina and will feature dancers as well.
