Duke-UNC Consortium for Middle East Studies annual conference (2013): "Re-Orienting the Veil"
The 2013 Duke-UNC Consortium Conference will focus on Muslim women Veiling practices in transnational contexts. The one and a half day conference is entitled "Re-Orienting the Veil" and is intended as a forum for an interdisciplinary, cultural, religious, historical and political discussion of the meaning of the Islamic headscarf. It is addressed to the NC scholarly communities, to undergraduate and graduate students as well as to NC K-12 and community college teachers and the public at large.
